12yo among five youths arrested

Police have arrested five people under the age of 20, including a 12-year-old boy, after finding three stolen cars and a stolen scooter at Oakden.

About 10.30pm on Saturday night, police received a report of a vehicle driving erratically on Wright Rd at Valley View.

Checks on the vehicle, a Volkswagen Tiguan, revealed that it was stolen during a break-in at Toorak Gardens on Friday night.

Police patrols searched the area but were unable to find the Tiguan until about an hour later, when it was discovered abandoned in Oakden.

Police also located a Mercedes sedan which had also been stolen at the same Toorak Gardens break-in.

A stolen Kia Sorrento and a scooter were also found nearby.

Investigations led police to a nearby home where they arrested five people – a 12-year-old Campbelltown boy, a 13-year-old Hampstead Gardens boy, a 13-year-old Craigmore boy, a 16-year-old Oakden boy and an 18-year-old Mawson Lakes man.

They were charged with three counts of illegal use of a motor vehicle and aggravated serious criminal trespass.

The adult was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today while the youths were bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court at a later date.

The five arrested are currently being interviewed by police.
