A 72-year-old Bordertown man has died after becoming trapped in machinery at a winery in the Limestone Coast.

A man has died after he became trapped in machinery at a winery at Padthaway in the Limestone Coast earlier today.

The 72-year-old man became trapped at Stonehaven Winery at 1pm today.

Police and paramedics were called however the man from Bordertown died.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death have not been ruled as suspicious by the police, who are currently preparing a report for the Coroner.

SafeWork SA have been advised on the incident.

This incident comes after SafeWork SA suspended the licences of two crane operators, one on Wednesday after an incident at Hackney.

A crane used at a construction site on Bertram St snapped and dropped its load onto cars parked on the street below, cutting power to hundreds of nearby properties.

While no injuries were sustained, SafeWork SA said the “incident had the potential to expose people to the risk of serious injury or death”.

Another crane operator’s high-risk work licence was immediately suspended by SafeWork SA after a crane tipped while lifting a load at a playground being built at Penfold Park in Magill on September 6.
