Pictures from the scene show hundreds of passengers packed into the check-in area.

Security screening recommenced around 1.30pm, with some departing flights delayed due to the incident.

“We apologise to all our customers for the disruption this afternoon and thank them for their

Patience,” a spokesperson for Adelaide Airport said.

It’s the third security breach in eight months at the airport.

About a dozen flights were delayed in June last year when a passenger passed through the main security point “without adequate screening”.

Passengers were evacuated from the main terminal in another incident in June, after 10 people had to be re-screened due to a human error.
