Musical superstar Sir Elton John has wished his fans a Happy New Year from the balcony of a luxury Hayman Island resort, thanking fans for their support in 2022 as he departs for his final tour.
After he and his husband David Furnish were spotted waving their fans a Happy New Year as they departed the resort, Elton publicly announced his gratitude on his Instagram page.
“I wanted to take this chance very early into 2023 saying thank you for 2022,” Elton said.
As he reaches the end of his pre-tour vacation at the luxurious Hayman Island Resort, he confirmed his farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour plans for the coming months.
Recent reports said his concert dates range across January in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane before he flies out to his fans in New Zealand.
“You’ve been amazing, your support has been great, I love you dearly and I will be seeing you next in Newcastle in Australia on the 8 of January.
“From then on, it’s pedal to the metal until July the 8th in Stockholm,” he said.
“Let’s hope 2023 is going to be just as good.”
The couple arrived at the Hamilton Island airport by boat and left for Sydney Sunday.
It is believed the two stayed at the exclusive Glasshouse, with rooms starting from $8500 a night.
The private resort is a “level of luxury to rival any on the internationally renowned private resort scene”, Hamilton Island Luxury Homes states.
Rumours the star was holidaying in the picturesque Whitsunday Islands began circulating just days after Christmas.
The speculation began after Central Queensland Plane Spotting Blog wrote the music megastar’s plane, a Gama Aviation Bombardier Global Express bizjet M-EDZE, was anticipated to touch down on Hamilton Island inbound from Sydney.
Kellie Leonard soon after posted a photo of the plane on Hamilton Island’s runway in the comments on Triple M Mackay and the Whitsunday’s Facebook page.
The M-EDZE has special meaning for Elton with the acronym standing for Elton, his husband David, and their two sons, Zachary and Elijah.
Tourism operators on the private island are renowned for keeping the identities of their guests a secret.
