There are rumours music superstar Sir Elton John is holidaying in the picturesque Whitsunday Islands.
The speculation began after Central Queensland Plane Spotting Blog wrote the music megastar’s plane, a Gama Aviation Bombardier Global Express bizjet M-EDZE, was anticipated to touch down on Hamilton Island inbound from Sydney.
Kellie Leonard soon after posted a photo of the plane on Hamilton Island’s runway in the comments on Triple M Mackay and the Whitsunday’s Facebook page.
“They are on (their) way to Hayman. Would be there by now,” Ms Leonard commented.
The M-EDZE has special meaning for Elton with the acronym standing for Elton, his husband David, and their two sons, Zachary and Elijah.
It is reported Elton had his family on-board with him as they travelled onwards to Hayman Island.
Tourism operators on the private island are renowned for keeping the identities of their guests a secret.
“Most A listers go straight to Hayman,” Constance Barberakis commented in Hamilton Island Visitors’ Facebook group.
Jo Howie added: “exactly, where they don’t get bothered by pesky celeb hunters.”
Evelyn Hoole posted there were “quite a few famous guests” currently on Hayman Island.
There is also a rumour that Elton is staying at the prestigious $8,500 a night Glasshouse accommodation on Hayman Island.
The private resort is a “level of luxury to rival any on the internationally renowned private resort scene”, Hamilton Island Luxury Homes states.
Could Elton be soaking up the North Queensland sun before his scheduled performance in Newcastle?
The January 8 show is part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour, with further January dates in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before he flies out to New Zealand.
