Facebook posts have appeared on the page of a Gympie man jailed for bashing and choking his 19-year-old girlfriend so severely she turned blue in the face and started fitting.

FACEBOOK posts have appeared on the page of a Gympie man in jail until at least April 2021 for bashing and choking his 19-year-old girlfriend so severely she turned blue in the face and started fitting.

Shaun Joseph Maudsley, aged 38 when he was sentenced to four-and-a-half years' jail in the Gympie District Court last month, had been in a relationship with his victim for three weeks when he terrorised her in Tewantin and Cooroibah on February 12, last year.

Not even a month after he was sent to the Woodford Correctional Centre from the District Court on July 26, a post on his Facebook page made no apologies for his sickening actions.

"I would rather be known as a women bashing piece of s--- then (sic) be known as a bloke running around with a police informent (sic) little scum," the post began. "I bash most people that f--- me or my friends over. Unfortunately sometimes it is a chick. Everyone knows I am not a nice person nor do I want to be."

The post, time-stamped at 2:14pm on July 30, is one of many recent posts made on Maudsley's account -with the latest one published last Friday.

A Qld Corrective Services spokesman confirmed no prisoners were allowed access to the internet or a mobile phone, but didn't rule out someone else posting on Maudsley's behalf.

"Prisoners in Qld prisons are not allowed access to the internet, or access to devices such as mobile phones," the spokesman said.

"At this time we do not have legislation preventing family members posting on behalf of prisoners. All prisoner phone calls are recorded and may be monitored for intelligence and security reasons."

The District Court heard Maudsley was on an "extraordinary cocktail of drugs" when he bashed his victim so severely she lost several teeth. He had committed the worst of the assault in an "isolated location" listed as being in Cooroibah, punching her in the ribs, elbowing her in the head and choking her with both hands.

Maudsley's solicitor said he had shown remorse for his actions, but Judge Suzanne Sheridan cited more threatening Facebook posts made by Maudsley toward the victim, her mother and her family two days after the assault.

Maudsley pleaded guilty to common assault, assault occasioning bodily harm, grievous bodily harm and choking all committed in a domestic relationship, as well as stealing fuel and one summary offence of failing to dispose of a needle.

He was sentenced to Judge Sheridan handed down a head sentence of four-and-a-half years' jail for the choking offence.

His four-and-a-half year jail sentence will begin after October 16, when he finishes a previous sentence. He will be eligible for parole on April 16, 2021.
