A heritage building, which previously housed a hair salon, has been gutted by fire in Bundaberg’s CBD.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman confirmed on Saturday a fire investigator had deemed the blaze suspicious.
It comes after the vacant building on the corner of Targo and Woondooma Streets was engulfed by flames in the early hours of Friday morning.
Firefighters were called to the address, which still has the Envious Hair signage outside, about 3am.
The fire was contained and police declared a crime scene.
Nobody was inside the building at the time.
Police are asking for anyone in the area from midnight to 3am with information on the incident to contact them.
Bundaberg’s firefighters were also called out to another blaze which destroyed a shed in the city’s north.
Paramedics assessed an uninjured man at the scene on Fairymead Road at 10.08pm and he declined transport to hospital.
Further south on the Fraser Coast, crews also responded to reports of a fire in Hervey Bay’s CBD on Friday night.
The QFD spokesman said while vapour/smoke could have been linked to electrical issues at the building on Main St, Pialba no fire was detected and the area was deemed safe just before midnight.
