A Northern Region Command police officer is set to face a Coffs Harbour court after being charged with modifying restricted data.

NSW Police launched an internal probe in March last year after allegedly receiving reports the senior constable “had allegedly made an unauthorised modification to restricted data held on the police computer system”.

The officer was served a court attendance notice on Wednesday “following extensive enquiries”, according to a police statement.

The man has been charged with one count of modifying/accessing restricted data held in a computer.

His employment status was “under review” on Thursday morning, NSW Police confirmed.

The officer is due to face Coffs Harbour Local Court on November 12.
