A dramatic rescue unfolded on the Sunshine Coast Motorway this morning when an elderly woman was cut free from her van.

A DRAMATIC rescue unfolded on the Sunshine Coast Motorway this morning when an elderly woman had to be cut free from her van.

The single-vehicle rollover happened about 7.45am on the roundabout intersecting Yandina-Coolum Rd, Coolum Beach.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesman said they used hydraulic equipment to free the 70-year-old woman who was pinned by her legs. They said the rescue effort took about 10 minutes.

Reports from the scene indicate the van's windshield and rear had to be cut open.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said she was transported with minor injuries in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Birtinya.

Traffic is still able to pass through the area.
