The moment two riders took their horses into a Sunshine Coast McDonald’s drive-through has been captured on video.

The pair swapped four wheels for four-legged transport at the Coolum Beach store on Friday.

In the video, posted anonymously on the Coolum Community Facebook page, the horses can be seen calmly cruising past the windows amid cars.

Toni Richards and Eden Annabelle Flower were the riders in question of Opal and Delilah and said the trip was a great success.

Ms Richards said it was her “crazy idea”.

“Being brought up in the bush down in NSW, it’s pretty normal for me to do crazy stuff on horseback,” Ms Richards said.

She said horses wouldn’t normally do something like this calmly with the frightening traffic and people.

“It’s a reflection for me of the hours and dedication I have put into Opal to set her up to succeed in a situation like this,” she said.

They didn’t quite get their order through the drive though.

“I still went in and was served and they were very apologetic as they just weren’t allowed to serve horses,” she said. “This is my first time on the Sunshine Coast doing this, my horse thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Ms Flower said they often take the horses down the opposite end of Coolum for a trot to Woolies and a wander along the nature corridor behind the primary school.

“My good mate ended up dismounting and heading in to order while I stayed out front holding the horses like the loyal designated horse handler I am,” she said.

“Safe to say, the horses were very unimpressed they didn’t get a hash brown.”

Other commenters reminisced about riding their horses through Coolum “back in the day” down to the beach before fast food stores were built in town.

McDonald’s was contacted for comment.
