A 30-year-old Goondiwindi man has been remanded in custody after he allegedly threatened children with a machete.
Police allege the children were walking past the man’s home on Delacy St about 11am on Friday when he took offence to their presence.
Goondiwindi Senior Sergeant Richard McIntosh said the children were “mucking around” when the man approached them, allegedly waving a homemade machete.
“He told them to get going,” Sergeant McIntosh said.
Police were called to the incident, where they arrested the man and charged him with going armed to cause fear.
The man’s matters were briefly mentioned in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Saturday.
The court was told the man was on bail for other alleged offences and was remanded in custody.
His matters will be mentioned in the Goondiwindi Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
