A truck driver is lucky to be alive after their vehicle crashed down an embankment and burst into flames on the Pacific Motorway in northern NSW.
The nasty incident on the M1 near Maclean on Friday morning has caused massive headaches for motorists after both the north and southbound lanes were closed.
Shortly after 6am, Live Traffic reported a B-double crash into a barrier.
Heavy vehicles were able to pass the crash site using one lane in each direction at 9am, however, the motorway was still closed to light vehicles such as cars in both directions.
The Rural Fire Service (RFS) states the truck left the road, crashed down an embankment and caught fire.
“The driver was extracted by emergency services and is currently being treated by NSW Ambulance,” a Facebook post read.
Firefighters from the RFS and Fire and Rescue NSW have bought the fire under control.
A police spokesman said there were no reports of any injuries.
Light traffic has been being diverted through Cameron St and River St, Maclean.
Emergency services and transport crews remain on site.
