The Daily understands Mills' parents reside on the Coast, with the Australian Boomer in the region visiting.
Mills is one of the country's greatest exports to the NBA, with the 30-year-old part of the Spurs' championship winning side in 2014.
He is currently on a four-year, $50 million contract, with the club.
Mills was the winner of the NBA's Backbone Award recently, which honours players who represent the heart and soul of their team.
He will join the Boomers for world championship warm-up games against Team USA at Marvel Stadium on August 22 and August 24 ahead of the World Cup which begins on August 31.
He has plenty of history with the Australian side, joining them at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, London Olympics in 2012 and the Rio Olympics in 2016.
