Tickled Pink: Story behind Pink’s viral frog hat gift

A touching interaction left one fan tickled Pink, after the US singer received a crochet frog hat on stage in Brisbane. This is the second time the fan, Tamara Marxsen, 44, has given a hand-crocheted gift to the singer. During Pink’s last time in Brisbane, Ms Marxsen crocheted a blanket for the star with the names of her two children, Willow and Jameson, as well as her birth name, Alecia, and her husband, Carey.

“It’s really amazing,” Ms Marxsen said.

“It gives you a really good high. I love every time she stops and talks to the crowd, it’s amazing.”

Ms Marxsen drove four hours from Gayndah and waited in the heat for nine hours to be front row at Suncorp Stadium for the concert.

“We were number four, five and six in line,” she said.

“I brought some gym balls, and we blew them up to sit there and took some snacks. Sat around and had fun talking to other fans.”

While she purchased the tickets for the Summer Carnival show more than a year ago, she admits the crochet gift was a last-minute decision. It took her just a day to craft the hat.

Ms Marxsen said she has followed P!nk for the majority of her career.

“Being a similar age, we seem to be going through the same things at the same time,” she said.

“I was pregnant with my son when she was pregnant with her daughter. Her music just resonates with certain times of my life. She just seems to know what people are going through and puts that into her music.”

Ms Marxsen said while she isn’t sure what she will make the singer for future shows but she guarantees it will be crocheted.
