Police have urged anyone with information over an attack against an elderly man at a roadside stall to come forward.

Two men were reportedly driving north along Beerburrum Rd in a Toyota HiLux when they pulled over on the to side of the road at Elimbah about 6pm on Friday, January 24.

Police believe the two men, wearing dark-coloured clothing, then exited the ute and approached the 70-year-old man before assaulting him and leaving the scene.

It is believed the victim and the two men were not known to each other.

The elderly man, who has been identified as Balraj Kaur, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“I will never forget this incident in my life,” Mr Kaur, told 7News on Tuesday.

Mr Kaur’s daughter, Kirin, who asked her and her father’s faces be blurred on the television for fear of reprisal said it was terrifying.

“He can’t know anything, he just laying down on the floor … I’m just feeling I lost my father,” she said.

“This looks like a racist attack.

‘He was so scared and thinking about us as well … he said this country is not safe anymore for you guys.”

In a statement released on February 19, police have asked any witnesses to the incident, those with dashcam footage or anyone who may have been in the area about 5.30-6.30pm to come forward.

Anyone who recognises the men depicted in the footage are also urged to contact police.

Detective Acting Inspector Mick Hogan said investigations were ongoing.

“This is a horrendous assault and a cowardly act, and detectives will continue to work to identify and take action against those responsible,” Detective Acting Inspector Hogan said.

“Even if you didn’t witness the incident, we’re urging people who may have been in the area at the time to review their dashcam footage or CCTV footage to assist us in identifying the men, or car used by the men.”
