Police found woman in car hiding meth-filled syringe in underwear

Since the offending she had tried to turn her life around after she committed the offences so she could stay out of jail.

Australia's Court System

When police pulled over a white Holden Commodore in Marsden they noticed the front passenger fiddling with something in the footwell.

That passenger, Sky Louise Letts, had a syringe loaded with meth hidden in her underwear.

Letts pleaded guilty at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to 17 charges including stealing, being a repeat offender unlicensed driver and failing to stop for police.

The court heard over a period of weeks Letts was found driving without a licence four times.

She has been previously jailed for similar low level offending but the court heard she had begun to turn her life around.

The court heard she had been “using a ridiculous amount of meth” but had been clean recently.

Magistrate Melanie Ho said Letts needed to kick her drug habit for good.

“You are too young to be going to prison for minor offences,” she said.

“You just keep going to jail for silly things.”

Ms Ho said although she could send Letts back to jail she did not think it would help her stop offending in the future.

“I can’t see what a suspended period of imprisonment is going to do for you when you have a drug addiction.

“It’s an addiction, only you can deal with it.”

She was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and disqualified from driving for one month.
