No new cases, 22 active cases in Queensland: Premier

No new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Queensland in the past 24 hours, with just 22 cases now active across the state. It comes ahead of the border reopening with the ACT.

QUEENSLAND has recorded no new cases of COVID-19 in the past day.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced on her Facebook page today that there were still 22 active cases of coronavirus in the state.

The Queensland Health website lists seven cases in hospital but there are no patients currently in intensive care.

There have been 1,150 cases of COVID-19 in Queensland since the pandemic began, with six deaths.

It comes as Queensland prepares to reopen its borders with the ACT from next Friday, after Canberra residents were shut out on August 8.

The Sunshine State’s borders remain closed to New South Wales and Victoria.

Victoria, which has been in the grips of a deadly second wave for months, recorded just 21 new cases and seven deaths over the past 24 hours.

New South Wales on Saturday recorded three cases, only one of which was community transmission.
