A prolific Sunshine Coast property developer’s waterfront mansion is hitting the market for the first time with the sales agent hoping for a record breaking sale.
Property records state Mal Pratt, often referred to as the Sunshine Coast’s most private billionaire, bought his Cypress Ct, Minyama home known as “Tangaroa” for $950,000 in January 1995, but it is about to hit the market for the first time with an expected multimillion-dollar price tag.
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom mansion sits on a 2083 sqm double block with 94 sqm of Mooloolah River frontage.
The 900 sqm home includes a powder room, multiple living areas, an office, a central kitchen, bar with wine and beer fridges, a 25-metre solar heated lap pool with a bridge across it, a gallery/multipurpose room and a four-car lock up garage.
Real estate agent Craig Morrison, who is handling the sale, said Mr Pratt built the waterfront mansion himself.
“It was originally designed to feel like a resort, that’s what Mal wanted,” he said.
Mr Morrison said he had high hopes for setting an all-time property record for the region - not including Noosa.
Property records state the most expensive home sale on the Sunshine Coast is 24 Box St in Buderim which sold for $17.1m in August, 2021.
Cypress Court is home to many stunning properties, with two properties selling in 2023 for $4.25m and $5.2m.
Mr Morrison said the biggest sale for a house in Minyama was set in March 2022 when a Minyama Island home sold for $12 million.
Mr Morrison couldn’t share an estimated selling price for Mr Pratt’s home, but said it would be “in the double digit (millions)”.
He said despite the sale listing, the prolific developer behind La Balsa and Kon-Tiki business centres would continue to live on the Sunshine Coast.
It is expected to hit the market this week.
Mr Pratt politely declined to comment.
