Deepest divide of all: Where Miles, Crisafulli stand on sporting loyalty

Steven Miles and David Crisafulli have opened up about the one area where they are divided even more deeply than on political ideology, in response to a reader question.

The Premier and Opposition Leader are not only divided by political ideals, they are irreparably divided on which rugby league team they support.

But they both agree on one thing — neither is ever likely to be picked to coach the Broncos.

In response to a question from Garry of Charleville, “if you were coach of the Broncos what would you do to fix the mess and bring Brisbane a premiership?’’, both leaders fessed up to being far better politicians than league experts.

“Well, I’m pretty sure I’ll never be the coach of the Broncos,’’ Premier Steven Miles said.

“I am one of their biggest fans, though.

“We obviously had a pretty tough year, but I know they can bounce back next year.

“The new coach (Michael Maguire), I’m sure, is in there looking at what cultures need to change and I’m looking forward to them coming back bigger and better than ever.’’

The Premier also asked Garry to have a beer for him.

“Charleville is one of my favourite towns and the Corones Hotel is one of my favourite pubs,’’ he revealed.

LNP Leader David Crisafulli, despite being geographically obliged to support the Cowboys as a proud son of Ingham, said he did not wish the Broncos any harm.

“My dream job wouldn’t be coaching the Broncos,’’ he said.

“But you know where my heart lies.

“I don’t give sporting advice and I’m sure (Garry) wouldn’t give me political advice.’’
