Three brave siblings have powered through their tonsil removal surgery like superheroes at Mater Children’s Private Brisbane thanks to a massive donation of new Supertees from The Courier-Mail Children’s Fund.
Supertees don’t just look cool – they’re incredibly convenient, with specially adapted designs that make it easier to add or remove medical equipment.
Lucas, 8, Ava, 5, and Noah, 3, were given a super surprise last week when they were handed a Supertee to make their short stay in hospital more comfortable.
“I love Captain America,” Lucas said.
“I’m definitely taking my T-shirt home with me. It’s pretty cool.”
Nurse Unit Manager Corrie Lynch said the children staying at the hospital loved their Supertees.
“Kids’ clothes aren’t designed for hospital drips and tubes, so just changing a T-shirt can be a real struggle for children and their parents,” she said.
“But the Supertees make it very easy, and they’re super fun too.
“Everyone gets a card and gift box with their Supertee and that gets lots of smiles from children who may be feeling nervous about being in hospital.”
The Fund was established over 100 years ago to help change the lives of Queensland children in need.
Over the past century the Fund has supported not-for-profit organisations including Every Step Foundation, Zephyr Foundation, and Braille House with grants for essential new equipment.
