JACQUELINE Townsend has dedicated much of her life to building communities. The practising civil lawyer, 52, is into her second term as Pittwater mayor and has thrown much of her energy into a bold plan to revitalise the region.
The Enliven Pittwater Project aims to breathe new life into Pittwater's village centres through public art, cultural events and a mobile phone app. It also aims to showcase local bands and create pop-up bars.

"It involves a team to build our villages into communal hubs to celebrate us and our culture," Ms Townsend said. "Community spirit reflects the connectedness of people to their local area, to be aware of this area and protect and value what we've got."
Ms Townsend has been nominated for the Pride of Australia Award Community Spirit Medal.

Cr Kylie Ferguson, who lodged the nomination, said.
Nominations will be accepted until Tuesday, July 16.
