Portarlington’s Brenton Toole and Drysdale’s Blake Dobbin remain the kings of Bellarine cricket

Portarlington and Drysdale openers Brenton Toole and Blake Dobbin remain the kings of the Bellarine, albeit with largely different skillsets.

With three rounds left to play in the Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association, Demons master blaster Toole remains the region’s most prolific batter with 585 runs after 10 games.

Averaging 58.5, Toole has smashed 78 boundaries in 2023-24 too, 18 clear of his nearest rival in Armstrong Creek’s Clay Mulgrew in A1.

Mulgrew is in third place when it comes to total runs scored.

Toole has also produced the highest score from all six senior grades with 167 off just 152 balls against Wallington in Round 6.

When it comes to sixes, Barwon Heads B2 batter Tony Mirabella leads the region with an incredible 34 maximums.

Meanwhile, with the ball, Drysdale’s Blake Dobbins leads the pack with 31 wickets at the stunning average of just 8.9.

Dobbin is averaging a wicket every 20 deliveries in A2 this season with the best figures of 6-24.

In second place is Barwon Heads spinner Daniel Donaldson with 23 wickets at 13.4 apiece.
