Veteran broadcaster Ray Hadley has implored Premier Chris Minns to “deal with” issues preventing the Rural Fire Service from undertaking more hazard reduction burns after the first taste of bushfire season at the weekend.

Hadley watched on from his Central Coast home as at least 16 homes were razed in nearby Koolewong.

He cited figures from Coffs Harbour MP and Nationals leader Gurmesh Singh, which show low levels of burns in compariosn to targets.

“We need to know who is responsible for this,” he said. “We need to find out - if we have a replica of Black Christmas fires of 2001, 2002 it will be a horrible, horrible part of our history here in NSW,” he said.
