Quiet, even more deadly: Asian crime gangs are merciless

Asian crime gangs go about their business quietly, but are just as ruthless and even more deadly, than their bikie and middle eastern counterparts.
Sydney has been exposed to dozens of gangland assassinations, many in broad daylight and in public places like the murder of crime boss Wally Ahmed at a shopping centre in 2016 and bikie king pin Mick Hawi outside a Rockdale gym a couple of years later.
But the murder of Chong Kai ‘Jacky’ Wong on a remote farm outside Bathurst in late 2020 by members of his own drug cartel shows just how merciless Asian crime gangs can be.
If killing one of their own and dumping him in a shallow grave wasn’t bad enough, they then taunted his family about his demise, demanding $50,000 for the truth.
While it is an extreme case, it is far from unusual.
Hardly anyone knows about one Vietnamese crime syndicate believed to be responsible for at least four, maybe even six, murders in the past decade including drug dealer Son Thaanh Nguyen and his innocent girlfriend Thi Kim Lien Do in 2013.
The pair were wrapped in blankets and their bodies dumped in bushland. No one has been convicted of their murders.
“They (Asian criminals) learnt from the mistakes of the 90’s when the gangs running drugs in Cabramatta were flashy and chopping up their rivals with machetes in the street,‘’ a former detective said.
The infamous 5T gang imploded in a blaze of publicity as they killed each other and were eventually wiped out by the now dismantled Asian Organised Crime Squad.
Asian crooks, and victims alike, never talk in their world.
Junqi Huang however went against that trend and assisted police investigating Mr Wong’s death.
His reason? He said he wanted “revenge” for the death of his “friend”.
