Andrew Bolt: Woke AFL’s values up in smoke after hiring Snoop Dogg to perform at Grand Final

The country’s wokest league is now also the biggest hypocrite after paying gangsta rapper Snoop Dogg to “sing” at next month’s AFL Grand Final. The kiddies are in for a treat.

Is the AFL smoking Snoop Dogg’s dope? The country’s wokest league is now also the biggest hypocrite after paying this gangsta rapper to “sing” at next month’s AFL Grand Final.

The AFL is so woke that it lectures fans on racism, violence, global warming, sexism and respect for women.

And it’s so down on drugs that it killed the career of the Demons’ Joel Smith by banning him for four years for using and trafficking in cocaine.

But then it hires Snoop Dogg – real name Calvin Broadus – who’s been jailed for trafficking cocaine, and repeatedly charged since for other drug use, and in one famous track urges us to “smoke weed every day”.

Fantastic role model for the kids at the ‘G.

But the AFL’s hypocrisy goes deeper. It’s burbled: “From Gin and Juice to Drop It Like It’s Hot, Beautiful and Young, Wild & Free, Snoop has produced and featured in some of the most memorable hits of the last 30 years.”

Really? Those tracks really rock the AFL lads?

In Gin and Juice, which the AFL loves, Snoop raps that “I got a pocket full of rubbers and my homeboys do too so turn off the lights and close the door … We don’t love them hoes”.

Hoes? Is that in line with the AFL’s Respect and Responsibility Policy, which preaches that “women, girls … can experience a safe and inclusive environment”?

Let’s then hope Snoop doesn’t bust out another hit: “Look here, b … h, … come f … with a n*gga and do it doggy style.”

So inclusive! And will the AFL, which banned Crows’ star Taylor Walker for six weeks for racial abuse, forgive Snoop for his repetitive use of the n word?

Or maybe he’ll perform that other AFL fave, Drop it Like it’s Hot, and rap about murdering someone – a crime with which he was charged but not convicted: “Oh, you got a gun, so you wanna pop back? AK-47 now, n*gga, stop that, cement shoes … Your family’s cryin’.”

Look, I get it. Snoop is a huge star who gets so many eyeballs that the US Superbowl and the Paris Olympics also showcased him.

Money does talk, and the AFL has just sold every woke principle it’s had by hiring a convicted American drug trafficker made famous by rapping on the joys of drugs, shooting, gangs and treating women like hoes.

The kiddies are in for a treat.
