A sister of fashion worker Dawn Singleton has paid tribute to the woman whose ‘smile warmed everyone’s hearts’.
Ms Singleton, the daughter of entrepreneur John Singleton, was one of six people stabbed to death inside Westfield Bondi Junction on April 13.
A week after Ms Singleton was farewelled in a private ceremony, her sister Sally Singleton-Hawach posted a collage of photographs on social media.
“Dawnie...you embodied love. Always spoke with words of such kindness. With a smile that warmed all our hearts,” Ms Singleton-Hawach wrote.
“And that laugh I now play on repeat in my videos. You were so-so loved. I love you lil sis. Til we meet again.”
Ms Singleton, one of three daughters from Mr Singleton’s marriage to solicitor Julie Martin, was due to get married to her police officer fiance Ash Wildey in a few months time.
The bride-to-be was shopping for makeup inside the Chanel store when she was fatally attacked by Joel Cauchi who went on a rampage killing six people.
In a heartbreaking twist, Ms Singleton’s fiance was one of the dozens of police officers who rushed to the scene when the stabbing happened.
He was frantically trying to call Ms Singleton, whom he knew was inside the centre shopping, but her phone did not answer.
A source with knowledge of those immediate moments after the massacre told The Daily Telegraph that Mr Wildey let his superiors know he feared Ms Singleton may be among the victims.
Another police officer then walked through the centre to see if they could hear the phone ringing, and confirmed she was one of the victims.
“One of the saddest things you’ll ever see was when he (Mr Wildey) realised,” the source said.
Ms Singleton was a fashion worker for White Fox brand.
