Wild punches thrown as police investigate chaotic Brighton-Le-Sands street brawl

A wild brawl on a beachside street in Sydney’s southern suburbs has been captured on video, as police launch a manhunt for those involved.

Punches and kicks were thrown in the melee that occurred about 10pm on Sunday outside a restaurant on Bay St in Brighton-Le-Sands.

Footage taken by residents of a nearby high-rise apartment block that overlooks Bay St captured the tussle that appeared to begin after two men – one in a red hoodie, the other in a blue jumper – exchanged tense words.

The scrum then begins, with shouting and screaming heard coming from street level.

Wild punches are thrown with the man in the red hoodie being knocked to the ground on several occasions as he is set upon by a large group.

Police are investigating after up to ten men were involved in a wild brawl at Brighton-Le-Sands on Sunday night.

Footage taken by residents of a nearby high-rise apartment block that overlooks Bay St captured the tussle.

He can later be seen in a separate video wiping his face as the men disperse across the road.

In a statement, NSW Police said they were aware of the incident and investigations are ongoing.

A man in a red jumper was knocked to the ground on multiple occasions during the brawl by a large group of men.

“About 10pm yesterday (Sunday, December 4 2022), emergency services were called to Bay Street, Brighton-Le-Sands, following reports of an affray,” the statement read.

“On arrival officers from St George Police Area Command were told that up to 10 men were involved in a brawl.

“No injuries have been reported.

“Officers conducted a search of the area and are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
