Finks bikie Benjamin Main denies Denman Hotel bashing and affray

A bikie gang member will face a hearing in the new year after being charged over the alleged assault of a Hunter hotel patron.

A Finks bikie gang member will face a court hearing in the new year after denying he was responsible for an allegedly violent assault at a Hunter hotel.

Police allege a 32-year-old patron at the Denman Hotel was punched and kicked during an incident on August 14.

Following an investigation by Hunter Valley police, Main and a second man, Billy Murphy, were arrested on September 17 before search warrants were performed on Main’s residence at Bellbird Heights and Murphy’s home at Medowie.

Police alleged seized clothing and mobile phones, which were sent away for analysis.

Both men faced Muswellbrook Local Court this week, with Main charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and affray being adjourned for a hearing at Muswellbrook on January 31.

The hearing is expected to last three hours.

Murphy, 28, has pleaded guilty to one count of affray and will be sentenced on January 31.
