TIRED of looking for love? Tinder just letting you down?
If you’re seeking a companion who’s always down for a sunset stroll, a candlelit dinner and a cuddle on a Friday night, we have the dating service for you.
On Saturday, February 13, you could meet your purr-fect match as Petbarn plays cupid across NSW, hosting pet speed dating events to match RSPCA adoption animals with forever homes.
So instead of pining over your single status, why not try a mini-date with a playful kitten or a senior cat, a puppy, dog, even a rabbit.
We spoke toTara Deevy, RSPCA NSW spokesperson, about this special event.
What is pet speed dating?
“The Pet Dating event is an initiative aimed at finding loving homes for RSPCA adoption animals currently in Petbarn stores. Potential pet parents can go on mini-dates with a number of cuddly animals. It’s all about giving people the chance to meet a few furry companions and making sure they find the purr-fect match!”
How does it work?
“Adopters can attend their local Petbarn store where RSPCA adoption animals, or some from other rescue groups, can be adopted on the day.”
Will people find true love?
“Undoubtedly people will find true love, it is St Valentine’s Day after all! We are really hoping all our animals find their fur-ever families on the day.”
How many pets are going up for adoption?
“Each store will have at least three homeless animals ready for their fur-ever families.”
What kinds of animals will be there?
“Rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and there even might be some birds too! The animals available can vary from store to store, but there is no shortage of loving animals ready for a home”
What checks do you do to ensure the animals are going to good homes?
“Our normal adoption procedures apply. Once an interested adopter has expressed interest in an animal, staff will ask a number of questions about their home and lifestyle to ensure the animal is the right match for the potential new home. Every effort is made to match the right animals to the right family and ensure true love. The RSPCA also offers ongoing support as an animal settles into their new home.”
What should people know before adopting a companion animal?
“Talk to the whole family about what kind of pet you want to adopt. If you have existing pets our staff will discuss whether a new pet will be the right match. People need to really think about the commitment of a pet, how long they will live, how much does it cost to care for them, feeding ongoing vet care, vaccinations etc. Pets are for life. Our staff and volunteers can also offer advice on the day too, and there is plenty of information on our website too.”
What costs are involved?
Normal adoption fees apply.
