Underworld figures Rafat and Mohamad Alameddine, and bikie Allan Meehan, take holiday break

Some of the biggest names in Sydney’s underworld have escaped the Harbour City for a holiday that conveniently puts them out of cops’ reach.

Some of the biggest names in Sydney’s underworld have become the latest to escape the Harbour City for an overseas break that also conveniently puts them out of the reach of NSW Police.

High-profile alleged Alameddine crime clan boss Rafat Alameddine and the Comanchero OMCG’s national president Allan Meehan have been two of the key targets for police in their bid to stop Sydney’s gang war.

And so, in the spirit of the holiday season, the pair are understood to be among a number of local figures to head overseas recently.

Some underworld sources suggested Alameddine – who is understood to be travelling with cousin Hamdi – did not have plans to return and instead planned to set up a base in Lebanon, where his family originates from.

But when contacted by The Daily Telegraph, Alameddine’s solicitor Abdul Saddik said his client intended to return to Australia.

Police sources confirmed they were aware Meehan had also separately ventured overseas, just months after a serious crime prevention order (SCPO) was taken out against him by authorities.

That order greatly impacts his freedoms in NSW, but has no bearing when he is interstate or overseas.

Allan Meehan, national president of the Comanchero bikie gang, is also overseas.

Another man who has been a focus of police and is now overseas is Mohamad “Almo” Alameddine.

Sources said Alameddine’s trip overseas began with a trip to a popular holiday spot for Australians.

“He headed off to Bali first of all for a break but he should be coming back in the next two weeks I am told,” an underworld source said.

Alameddine – who despite having the same surname is not related to Rafat Alameddine – is alleged by NSW Police to be a senior associate of the Comanchero bikie gang, despite not officially being a patched member.

If either of the Alameddines or Meehan do not return anytime soon, they will join an increasing number of NSW figures living in exile overseas.

Masood Zakaria’s escape out of Australia was one of the most daring.

After travelling from NSW across locked down borders to Western Australia during the Covid-19 pandemic, Zakaria then boarded a fishing boat to Malaysia.

He is understood to have then made his way through Asia before flying to Turkey where he remains.

Also currently in Turkey is Duax Ngakuru, the new international commander of the Comanchero.

The Daily Telegraph this week revealed Ngakuru has taken over the reins of the club after longtime leader Mark Buddle was sent packing from his base in Cyprus and found himself on remand in a Victorian jail cell.

Another Sydney underworld figure who has set up a base overseas is Bilal Haouchar.

Haouchar has long been in the sights of NSW Police who want to speak with him over a series of murders.

But he has put himself out of reach of all Australian authorities by setting up a base in Lebanon, which has no official extradition treaty with Australia.
