THE well-known adage "to hell and back" is often associated with soldiers returning from battle.

But sometimes you don't come back from the hell-it comes back with you.

Such is the fate of soldiers suffering from combat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of warfare.

Sgt Major Paul Chapman of Tweed Heads knows only too well how the impact of war can creep up on you and knock you to somewhere a million miles from your comfort zone.

He was shaking as he spoke to My Daily News, fighting to compose himself and tell the story of how an eight month tour of duty in Afghanistan and a Taliban rocket-propelled grenade has ruined his life and thrown his family into a living hell.
