Police are appealing for more information about a Tweed Heads robbery which saw an older disabled man assaulted.

Tweed-Byron police are investigating a Francis St robbery that occurred about 10am last Thursday, involving a 65-year-old disabled victim.

A member of the public told police they saw a suspect come up from behind the victim and push him over before stealing his cash, said Tweed-Byron Detective Chief Inspector Brendon Cullen.

“This particular offence has a level of concern for us, as the victim was a disabled person who could only walk with the assistance of a walker,” Det Insp Cullen said.

He said police believe the offender was a caucasian man between 30-40 years old, dressed in a dark coloured hoodie and wearing a black surgical face mask.
