A man is due to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on Wednesday charged over an alleged fraud of more than $24 million.

Camden Police Area Command detectives established Strike Force Wooroonga after receiving reports in July last year that a local businessman had allegedly misappropriated his clients’ investments.

Following inquiries, Queensland Police’s Coomera CIB detectives arrested a 40-year-old man on Hope Island on Monday for a NSW Police arrest warrant.

NSW Police successfully applied for the man’s extradition when he appeared in Southport Watchhouse on Tuesday.

The man is due to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on Wednesday, charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.

NSW Police detective chief inspector and crime manager Paul Albury said the police will allege the accused targeted ‘mum and dad-type’ investors and other business owners.
