Fishermen were seen out and about throwing a line in and enjoying the sunshine, and Mantra and Peppers on Salt beach were completely sold out of rooms for the season.
My Daily News found Brisbane holidaymaker Josh Murray trying to catch Christmas lunch at Jack Evans Boat Harbour, Tweed Heads.
He said he'd been visiting Tweed for holidays since he was a kid.
"Since I was a toddler I've always came here no matter which holidays, doesn't matter if it's Christmas, Easter or whatever," he said.
Mr Murray said he loved the Tweed Coast and said it was "good to get away from all the people" in Brisbane.
Fishing had been eventful for Mr Murray over the weekend and he was having a lot of fun on holiday.
"I got a 40cm flathead and I helped a kid pull in a huge trevally," he said.
"It's been great."
General Manager of Salt Lisa Brown said that Mantra Salt and Pepper resorts were both sold out this year.
"It's the first year we've completely sold out at Peppers and Mantra," she said.
"We are 100% full."
She also said that tourists were spending Christmas Day at the resorts instead of arriving on Boxing Day like usual.
