A 37-year-old charged after a woman suffered stab wounds at an incident at Tweed Heads South, has appeared in court where she sobbed.
Teresa Knights faced Tweed Heads Local Court on September 29 after being charged over the alleged stabbing of a 48-year-old woman on Seymour Street in Tweed Heads South on September 28.

Knights was due to return to court in October.
Today, the court heard that Knights is required to take a mouth swab with the results to be provided to police.
Magistrate Geoff Dunlevy noted that Knights was mentally unwell.
“She isn’t making an application for release, the court has been asked to make treatment options,” Mr Dunlevy said.
“I’ll make an order for the defendant to be transported to a mental health facility where she can be assessed.”
The victim of the alleged stabbing is currently being treated at Gold Coast University Hospital after undergoing surgery.
Bail was not applied for Knights and it was formally refused.
The matter is due to return to court on November 18.
