Sewage line replacement

TWEED motorists face possible traffic disruptions in December or early January when sewage pipes in Kennedy are replaced in work estimated to take two days.

TWEED motorists face possible traffic disruptions in December or early January when sewage pipes in Kennedy are replaced in work estimated to take two days.

Water and Wastewater Operations Engineer Peter Haywood said it is part of the renewal program for sewage lines.

“The ageing sewer needs to be replaced before it fails,” Mr Haywood said.

Council is currently reviewing applications from three companies based in Sydney who are competing for the contract.

The sewage pipes being replaced were laid in the early 60's, as part of the original sewage scheme for Tweed Heads.

The works are unrelated to 2007 works in Kennedy Drive when water pipes were replaced.
