A modest house by the beach is in line to be bulldozed to make way for a $3 million townhouse complex at Fingal Head in the Tweed.
Four new two-storey townhouses will be built on Main Rd if the proposed “multi-dwelling housing” project gets the green light from Tweed Shire Council.
A development application has been lodged to demolish the existing two-storey structure for the four-bedroom modern homes, which would also front Healy Lane.
The total site area is 1012 sqm and would be subdivided four ways, with two properties fronting Main Rd to occupy about 270 sqm and two smaller properties fronting Healy Lane to take up about 209 sqm.
The two larger subdivisions fronting Main Rd would include pools and yards.
The design is pitched as having a “modern and coastal aesthetic”.
Lance Newley, director of project management firm ELKN, speaking on behalf of the owner said the project would be in line with the style of the area.
He said landscaping would have “ecological links to the surrounding Fingal Head area” and feature plants cascading from the second floor of each home.
The site is 400m from the Tweed River, 700m from the beach, and about 10 minutes drive from Tweed Heads CBD.
