Tate Robinson and Jack Stuart Jones in court in drug case

A pro surfer and former Gold Coast Titans star are among the people accused of supplying cocaine across the state line.

Cases against two men accused of being a part of an interstate drug syndicate have potentially come closer to being finalised, a court heard.

Accused ring leader Jack Stuart Jones, 21, and pro surfer Tate Robinson, 22, had their matters mentioned in Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday.

Mr Jones faces 29 charges including knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group and two counts of supplying cocaine on an ongoing basis from Pottsville to Varsity Lakes more than three times from October 1 to November 18, 2020.

He faces an additional 23 counts of supplying cocaine in Casuarina last year.

Police allege Mr Jones is the syndicate’s ringleader.

Co-accused Mr Robinson faces 20 charges including participating in a criminal group activity and supplying dangerous drugs on an ongoing basis.

Police allege Mr Robinson supplied cocaine on at least three occasions between October 1 and November 18, 2020.

No pleas have been entered.

A defence lawyer for Mr Jones and Mr Tate told the court his clients were nearly ready to sign an agreed set of facts for the matter and asked for the case to be adjourned for a week.

The matter was adjourned to October 25 where both men are required to appear.

Mr Jones remains in custody and Mr Tate is on bail.

Former Gold Coast Titans player Michael Gordon is also accused of being a part of the cross-border drug ring.

The 37-year-old, faces two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and two counts of take part in supplying cocaine which he has pleaded not guilty to and will contest at a hearing next month.

Mr Gordon remains on bail.
