Man, 71, dies after car smashes into wire road safety barrier on Tweed Valley Way at Tumbulgum

A man aged in his 70s has died after his car ploughed into a wire road safety barrier in the north of the state.

A man aged in his 70s had died after his car crashed into a wire road safety barrier at Tumbulgum early on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to Tweed Valley Way at Tumbulgum following the incident about 12.45am.

NSW Ambulance paramedics took the 71-year-old to Tweed Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Tweed/Byron Police have set up a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist officers as investigations continue.
