CCTV footage has been released of a man allegedly threatening a Tweed servo employee with a firearm before stealing cash and fleeing the scene.
Officers from the Tweed Byron Police District were called to a service station at Tweed Coast Rd, Hastings Point about 10.30pm on Saturday.
A man threatened a store employee with a firearm before taking money and leaving the scene, police were told.
The staff member was shaken but not injured.
Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.
In a bid for more information and public assistance, detectives released CCTV vision of a man who they believe may assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, in his 30s, with a medium build, thin face and about 180cm tall.
He was last seen wearing a light purple hooded jumper, black shorts with red pockets, white shoes and black socks.
Anyone with information into his whereabouts is urged to not to approach him but to call triple-0 immediately.
