It’s unlikely the Northern Rivers will get a break from severe weather any time soon with the Bureau of Meteorology warning more flash flooding could occur in the coming week.
Meteorologist Olenka Duma said inland thunderstorms around the New England region on Monday could have some impact around Lismore and Ballina.
She said around Grafton and parts of the Mid-North Coast could also see thunderstorms on Monday.
“Wednesday to the end of the week we are expecting showering weather to return to the entire coast of NSW,” she said.
“There is the risk of moderate to heavy falls about the entire east coast.”
She said a low pressure system was expected to develop off the Queensland coast during the week which would bring the rain expected next week.
Weatherzone is reporting some parts of the coast could see anywhere between 50 to 200mm of rain accumulated over the next seven days, with the Mid-North Coast expected to see some of the highest falls.
Ms Duma said as the situation was rapidly changing it was essential for residents to continue to monitor warnings.
