Junior choir entertains Tweed seniors

RESIDENTS of Bangalor Retreat in Tweed Heads West and Tweed Heads Nursing Home were entertained by award-winning Bilambil Junior Choir on Monday.

RESIDENTS of Bangalor Retreat in Tweed Heads West and Tweed Heads Nursing Home were entertained by award-winning Bilambil Junior Choir yesterday.

Bilambil Public School and choir teacher Donna McGlinn said the 32 strong choir, consisting of 28 girls and four boys, performed beautifully and she was extremely proud of the children.

"They sang with gusto and enjoyed meeting the residents," Mrs McGlinn said.

"Residents at both nursing homes were very appreciative and thoroughly enjoyed listening to the children and meeting them afterwards."

The kids and residents were looking forward to meet again around Christmas this year when the choir would return to perform at the homes.

Bangalor Retreat activities officer Vicki Hewitt said the residents absolutely loved seeing, meeting and listening to the kids.

"They were really, really good and were well-behaved, smiling and chatty.

"The residents were beaming and the kids' performance provided a happy atmosphere which stayed around for the entire day."

Some residents didn't get to see their families very often and missed their grandchildren in particular.

"The kids' visit brought joy to their hearts," Ms Hewitt said.
