The Northern NSW Local Health District has confirmed there are no Covid-19 cases currently on the Northern Rivers.
This comes after calls for further information was requested by political leaders about the movements of a truck driver who stopped at a Chinderah service centre.
“There are currently no confirmed COVID-19 cases among residents of Northern NSW Local Health District, nor any confirmed cases isolating here,” the health district’s acting chief executive, Lynne Weir, said.
“Several people are completing their 14 days of isolation in accommodation arranged by NSW Health with the assistance of NSW Police and the North Coast Public Health Unit, after being identified as close contacts at the Ampol Service Station in Chinderah at the same time as positive COVID-19 cases.
“The accommodation has been arranged so that the individuals have suitable accommodation to be able to isolate properly.
“These isolation accommodation arrangements provide a secure and supportive environment for these guests.
“All guests will undergo the required testing during isolation, and will receive regular wellbeing checks from NSW Health.”
An alert was issued on Saturday night that the Chinderah truck stop at the Ampol service station (northbound) near the Murwillumbah turn-off was a venue of concern.
The alert included the truck drivers’ toilets, showers and lounge, and the food court at 112 Tweed Valley Way on Tuesday July 13, 8.30pm to Wednesday July 14, 7.30am.
