Gold Coast Titans visit Tweed primary school

ST Joseph's Primary students were delighted to have a visit from some of the Gold Coast Titans on Tuesday as part of NRL's One Community program. Former Seagulls player Tom Kingston and teammate Matt Srama spent almost an hour with students from years three to six to help prevent bullying.

Mr Kingston - who attended St Josephs - said school visits like this one would hopefully help to stamp out bullying in schools.

"There's a line between having a joke and going too far," Mr Kingston said.

"It's important to let someone know when they've crossed the line."

Matt Srama is in his sixth year with the Gold Coast Titans and believes community involvement is essential.

"Titans are very involved in the community in Tweed and the Northern Rivers as well at the Gold Coast."

Mr Srama was hopeful their public image would help to prevent bullying.

Grade three teacher Annette McIver said the anti-bullying message was reinforced by sporting role-models.

"It's great community involvement," she said.

The Titans team hosted a come-and-try afternoon yesterday at Seagulls.
