Girl charged with shops stabbing

A 17-YEAR-old female stabbed another teenager on Tuesday morning at a Tweed shopping centre and has been charged by police.
At 10.40am on Tuesday, the 17-year-old was approached by another female teen near Red Rooster at Tweed City Shopping Centre.
Fighting immediately broke out between the two and a knife was produced by the 17-year-old.
The victim was stabbed and suffered injuries to her forearm, of which the severity is unknown.
Shopping centre security detained the teenagers until police arrived shortly after to arrest the 17-year-old in possession of the knife.
She was subsequently taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.
The teenager was charged with having a knife in a public place, affray and reckless wounding and will appear before the NSW Children's Court on September 24.
