In an email to supporters — which is believed to have a reach of up to 100,000 people — The National Rugby League, Rugby Australia, Football Federation Australia along with the Sydney Roosters, NSW Waratahs and Sydney FC co-sign to explain the rationale behind the stadiums investment and the need for it.

The email landed in inboxes over the weekend and is the first time the strength of the sporting codes has been used together to influence members’ understanding of the stadiums spend.

The letter says Allianz Stadium at Moore Park is 30 years old and does not meet modern standards.

“As sporting fans know, it is a vastly inferior facility compared to those in any other major Australian city,” the letter says.

“With the largest population and strongest economy of any state in the country, we believe NSW should have world-class facilities that not only put us on par with other Australian cities, but supersede them.”
