The Sell: Michelle Bridges sells Potts Point unit for tidy profit

Michelle Bridges has secured herself a huge windfall after selling her luxury Potts Point apartment, which was listed in her name only. This comes as the fitness trainer recently split with long-term partner Steve “Commando” Willis and was charged with drink-driving.

Celebrity fitness trainer Michelle Bridges has sold her Potts Point apartment.

The luxury Macleay St abode with city and harbour views sold off-market late last year — but has yet to settle.

It is tipped to have fetched $6 million-plus, a huge windfall for Bridges, who held the property in her own name only.

There’s no known recent acquisition, with the only clue on her housing intentions coming from an Instagram post by Bridges last year when she was at her Southern Highlands retreat.

“The thought of spending more summer afternoons here …” she wrote as she sat on an outdoor lounge overlooking the rolling hills at Kangaloon.

Bridges’ seemingly happy home life took a turn recently when it was revealed she had split from her partner of nearly seven years, Steve “Commando’’ Willis.

It was an Australia Day drink-driving blunder by Bridges that exposed the tumult in her life.

She was charged with drink-driving with the former couple’s four-year-old son in the back seat. She went on to say she had been going through a tough time since she and Willis had parted ways.

The Potts Point apartment has survived a split before, as Bridges kept the Pomeroy apartment after an earlier break-up with business manager and then-husband Bill Moore.

It was bought in 2013 just as the five-year Sydney property boom began, costing them $2.9 million.

Bridges and Moore snapped it up at below its 2010 sale price of $3.2 million, when it was sold by prominent Sydney interior designers Marco Meneguzzi and Michael Love.

The apartment was transferred into Bridges’ name in 2016 after her relationship with Moore ended.

Bridges spent $2.7 million in 2017 on a Southern Highlands weekender, Summerside, a 4.1ha estate featuring a five-bedroom homestead amid Michael Bligh gardens.

The grounds feature a tennis court with pavilion, solar-heated pool, guest barn and art studio.

EMDUR KEEPS BUSY BONDI AT BAY

Channel 7 morning star Larry Emdur and wife Sylvie have bought at Berowra Waters as a retreat from their Bondi base.

They have snapped up a $1.1 million Neverfail Bay getaway which had previously fetched $1.3 million five years ago.

It is one of the most reclusive spots in Sydney, accessible only by boat.

“The magical bay is much quieter than Bondi,” Emdur told The Sell.

The architecturally designed home was built in 2013 for an artistic family requiring light and space, and creative work areas.

There’s 5m high ceilings on the north-facing home with the wall on the river side almost entirely glass. The floors are polished bamboo.

The Emdur home is positioned nicely to watch seaplanes landing, delivering diners to Berowra Waters Inn, the award-winning restaurant which the late Tony Bilson established with partner Gay in the late-1970s.

Meanwhile, entertainment industry stars Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton pocketed $1.7 million when they sold their nearby Berowra Waters retreat recently.

The sale, slightly below their $1.75 million expectations, was to Nigel Houston through Ray White agent Noel Nicholson.

The three-storey, five-bedroom, four-bathroom creekfront cost $1,495,000 in 2014.

BURGESS SELLS UP

Tom Burgess, who will be the only Burgess brother to pull on the green and red this year for the Rabbitohs, has secured the sale of an investment apartment at Little Bay.

He initially put his pad on the market with hopes of $975,000. He secured $992,500 last month.

NG Farah agent Beau Champion, who’d previously played alongside the brothers, posted his glee on Instagram as Burgess and model Tahlia Giumelli celebrated at a Coogee restaurant.

The couple, who welcomed baby daughter Sophie in August, have also listed their nearby
three-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse which has two wraparound entertainment spaces.

RACE IS ON TO BUY CUMMINGS’ HOME

James Cummings, the youthful trainer of the racing royalty family, is selling the family home he shares with wife Monica Barrera-Cummings and their two children.

They’re wanting to move closer to his thoroughbred training base.

The six-bedroom Malabar home, bought in 2017, shortly after Cummings was named the head trainer at Godolphin, has been listed through Raine & Horne Bondi Beach agent Hannah Bouskila.

“We’ve loved living in this house, watching the children grow up these past few years,” Cummings said.

“We’ve had an absolute ball, but if we move closer to my horses, I will get to spend even more time with my family.”

Cummings learned from his grandfather, the late legendary horse trainer Bart Cummings.

The 615sq m block comes with pool in the resort-style gardens. There’s a self-contained studio retreat that adjoins the gym.

Cummings was trackside at Randwick with Alizee running in the TAB Expressway Stakes while the first open home took place yesterday, with strong inspection numbers despite the heat.

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

Psychologist John Aiken, who pairs the Married At First Sight couples, has spent $2.93m to buy Tyneside, the historic Willoughby East residence.

It was for sale for the first time in 50 years following the death of the former Australian Jockey Club vice-chairman Noel Bracks who, with his widow Ellen paid $25,000 for the home in 1969.

It sold late last year through Forsyth agent Jimmy Psaltis. Aiken’s wife, interior designer Kelly Swanson-Roe, is now preparing renovation plans for the home.

Their nearby home fetched $2.85m late last year through McGrath agent John McManus, after being pulled from its April auction when it had $2.3m hopes. The Sydney market roared back in May.
