The Sauce: Nassif partner dumps “wifey” tag while posting cryptic Instagram message

Embattled property developer Jean Nassif appears to no longer have a “wifey” with the woman he famously gifted a yellow Lamborghini removing the tag from her social media post last week. Don’t miss The Sauce.

Jean Nassif leaves court after serious assault allegations dismissed

Besieged Toplace developer Jean Nassif appears to no longer have a “wifey” with the woman he famously gifted a yellow Lamborghini removing the tag from her social media post last week.

The Sauce last week noted how Nisserine “Nissy” Nassif had been photographed out and about with a friend without her wedding ring.

This week, her personal Instagram account “nissyyyworld” was altered with the word “wifey” removed as was her last name “Nassef” (spelled differently to Nassif).

Curiously, the Wiping Tears charity founder also shared an Instagram “story” from the “mamapsychologists” account about “showing up”.

There is no suggestion it was directed at her estranged husband – but it certainly set tongues wagging.

“Kids will always remember who showed up,” the post said.

“Not who made a Facebook post or who texted once a year.

“They will remember who bothered to rearrange their schedule and who them a priority.”

The Saturday Telegraph published photographs last week of Jean Nassif lying in a hospital bed in Lebanon where he has been living since December last year.

Nassif, who property empire is collapsing around him, said he was suffering “anxiety, depression and stress”.

A source close to Nassif said part of that anxiety was not being able to see his three young children.

While this could be resolved if he jumped on a plane to Sydney, it is understood he is worried he will be refused bail.

NSW Police have an arrest warrant out for Nassif, alleging he obtained a $150 million loan from Westpac through fraudulent pre-sale documents of an apartment complex in Castle Hill.

Lot’s more to come in this space.

MILLION DOLLAR JOB

It is the million dollar job that is yet to be filled.

But after months of speculation, the successful candidate who will replace outgoing Business Council of Australia (BCA) chief executive Jennifer Westacott is set to be announced with The Sauce told a decision was “imminent”.

The word on the street last week was that former premier Dominic Perrottet was among the names on the shortlist.

But when The Sauce called him on Saturday, the Epping MP was only interested in talking about his afternoon.

“I’m at the Beecroft Bowlo enjoying the afternoon with my former security detail,” he said.

Other names that have been in the mix since a recruitment first was appointed have included former West Australian treasurer and Rio Tinto director Ben Wyatt, Tech Council boss Kate Pounder, and ex-Perrottet government minister Stuart Ayres.

As the nation’s most powerful business lobby group, whoever takes on the role will have their work cut out.

WAR ON TOILETS

He took on dodgy developers – and won – now NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler has started a war on toilets.

Not the porcelain kind found in the bathrooms of new constructions, but the portable versions littering job sites.

Having visited thousands of work sites, Chandler reckons he’s “seen it all” – and the word is he is less than impressed.

The Sauce will spare readers the details, suffice to say some of the exhibits Chandler has sent us – and apparently staff in the office of Fair Trading Minister Anoulack Chanthivong Chandler – make the Trainspotting toilet scene seem tame.

David Chandler says he is less than impressed with the state of toilets on building sites.
David Chandler says he is less than impressed with the state of toilets on building sites.

The reason Chandler has taken an interest in the state of work site toilets is two-fold – one is because he believes the condition of a building site and its toilet is reflective of how much care has been taken on a construction.

The other reasons relates to discouraging women from wanting to work on sites, let alone enter the building industry.

“I’ve got a war on toilets,” he said.

“There is all this money going towards attracting women to construction. Some of the things I’ve seen …”

Builders – you have been warned.

ELECTION REVIEW

The warring factions of the NSW Liberal Party and the role they played in the election loss in March will be scrutinised as part of a long-awaited warts and all review into the disappointing result.

The Sauce can reveal the party has started the review with the terms of reference including the role senior party figures “and advisers” along with the “parliament team as a political force” played in the failed campaign.

The post-mortem will also cover the role the NSW Liberal Party state executive, local conferences, campaigns, “sources of volunteers, including the Young Liberals” also played in the result.

The electoral performance among the different voter segments will also be scrutinised as well as technology resources and digital campaign capability.

Critically, the review committee will also examine “the factions and other elements of the party”, including “timings and vetting processes” together with other matters determined by the panel.
