Teen charged with murder and assault after brawl
An 18-year-old youth has been charged with murder after a fatal brawl on the NSW north coast before Christmas. He was arrested at 6am today during a search warrant of a Tweed Heads home.

A teenager has been charged with murder after a fatal late-night brawl on the NSW north coast before Christmas.
Police and paramedics were called to a brawl at Hill and Park streets in East Ballina about 8pm on December 22.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics located a 24-year-old man suffering serious head injuries,” police said in a statement.
He was treated at the scene and flown to Gold Coast University Hospital where he died a few days later.
Police set up Strike Force Tancred to look into the man’s death.
At 6am today officers executed a search warrant on a home at Tweed Heads West, where they arrested an 18-year-old man.
He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with murder, assault occasioning death and affray.
He was refused bail to face Tweed Heads Local Court today.
Yesterday, a 22-year-old man was also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, affray and assault in relation to the incident.
His case was adjourned to February 12.
Investigations are continuing, with police saying they expect to make further arrests.
