He’s an Aussie icon, has a bubblegum nose and his name is Bill. Feeling nostalgic?
Restaurant and bar chain Milky Lane has taken a grown up approach to a childhood favourite with a cocktail version of the Bubble-O-Bill ice cream.
The creamy creation is served in a chilled glass lined with a splash of chocolate syrup. The cup is then filled with a special strawberry puree mixed with a splash of vodka and butterscotch liquor. It comes with a gooey caramel rim, a sprinkle of hundreds and thousands and is topped with bubblegum flavoured foam and a mega gum ball.
Milky Lane co-owner Christian Avant said the icy invention took about a year to perfect.
“We have wanted to do it for a long time and we were trying to get the colours to be layered through the drink but that proved quite difficult — but finally we got there,” Avant said.
“We love making people feel nostalgic and for us the Bubble O Bill was the most iconic thing ever.”
A photo of the colourful cocktail went viral online, sending orders through the roof, and leading Milky Lane to extend the special offer on the drink for two more weeks.
